Fillings

No one enjoys the prospect of having fillings placed. From anaesthetic gels to dvd glasses to watch movies on, we try to make the experience as comfortable as possible. We use high quality, cosmetic, tooth coloured fillings and the latest techniques to restore teeth. Bridge Dental is also one of the few practices to acquire a Cerec sytem for when stronger porcelain fillings are required. These are constructed using 3D CADCAM technology so they can be made and fitted at the same appointment.

Crowns and Bridges

There are several types of crown and bridge material. We provide the leading types: Gold Bonded porcelain (a metal substructure fused to porcelain) Alumina fused to porcelain Zirconia fused to porcelain Cerec porcelain for same day fitting One may be recommended over the others for cosmetic, functional or cost reasons. Our dentists can discuss the options with you. Crowns or caps are used for restoring teeth that are heavily filled, broken down, or for cosmetic purposes. The tooth is prepared and reduced in size to allow the crown to enclose it. This usually involves 2 visits 2 weeks apart, unless a Cerec crown is selected. In this case the fitting is carried out at the same visit. Bridges are used to replace a missing tooth. There are two types: Bonded: where the teeth adjacent to the missing tooth are prepared in a similar way to a crown. A 'false tooth' connected to a crown on one or both sides is then constructed and cemented onto these prepared adjoining teeth. Again this treatment can be carried out over 2 visits 2 weeks apart, or a Cerec completed at one visit. Maryland This involves a false tooth placed into a space. It is fixed there by bonding either a metal or zirconia porcelain backing to one, two or more adjacent teeth. Our dentists would advise which may be suitable for each individual case.

Gum treatment

Gum, or Periodontal health is essential for the functioning and appearance of teeth. It has been shown that over 80% of the population have some form of gum disease, and we approach this with prevention in mind. As gum disease can lead to bad breadth, tooth decay and has recently been linked to heart disease,we recommend regular visits to the hygienist, and advise on good home care. We do have a Periodontist on site (a dentist trained in advanced procedures for gum treatment), if needed, and our hygienists also provide evening appointments.

Veneers

Veneers are thin strips of porcelain that are bonded to the front surface of teeth. They can improve the appearance of discoloured or poorly positioned teeth considerably. A great smile can lead to improved confidence generally, so if your not happy with your smile ask us about whether veneers are a good option for you. We can provide a free cosmetic consultation for this purpose.

Digital Xrays

We believe in using the latest proven technology, so we have digital xray systems in each surgery. We also have a digital Pan Oral Xray machine for a broader view around the whole jaws. This technology allows us to reduce the dose of xray radiation by up to 80% compared to normal wet film type dental xrays. It can also allow us to view areas in greater detail and clarity to help us find any problems more accurately.

Orthodontics

This type of dentistry involves moving teeth with the use of wires or ‘aligners’ (thin, clear mouthguards),into improved positions. The appearance of wires has usually prevented adults from seeking improvements in their smiles through moving their teeth. This is no longer the case with Invisalign braces. These are a series of clear aligners that gradually move the teeth into the desired locations. They are almost invisible and as they are not fixed to the teeth, eating, brushing and flossing does not become such a chore as it does with fixed braces. We are a Platinum provider of Invisalign braces which means that we are one of the top providers of this technology in the country. We offer free consultations and very competitive prices, with 0% finance available to help spread the costs. Look out for our Invisalign Open Evenings, or ask reception to be notified when the next one is, as there are exclusive discounts available on the night.

Teeth Whitening

This is a simple, effective and safe way of improving your smile and confidence. There are 3 systems available, home whitening, in-surgery or power whitening, and combination whitening. Home whitening involves having custom made thin whitening trays fabricated and then wearing them for a minimum of 2 weeks, preferably overnight having filled them with a whitening gel.
In surgery, or power whitening involves having the gel applied and the teeth whitened during an appointment at the practice.
Combination whitening involves both home and in surgery whitening procedures and can be the most effective and long lasting method.
